All staff have a responsibility to help prevent abuse and act quickly. Safeguarding training is a legal requirement for all professionals who come into contact with vulnerable adults in their work.
During this session we will cover both Level 2 and 3 mandatory requirements and by the end of this course, attendees will have gained a better understanding of safeguarding principles and be able to apply them to their role :
- An outline of the main principles of safeguarding
- The legal framework considering and discussing the main legislation including the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and the Care Act
- The main types of abuse and how to recognise and manage concerns
- The practical management and impact of safeguarding on the individual and the healthcare professional
- To build knowledge and confidence to recognise and act on safeguarding concerns in adults
- Recognise evidence and indicators of abuse
- Recognise factors which may increase the risk of abuse
- Know how to report concerns about abuse and how to take appropriate action to enable you to protect individuals who are at risk of harm or abuse
